Training Practice

gp_and_book Medical students (under graduate) and Foundation Year Doctors (post graduate) join us for short periods to learn about general practice and may occasionally be present with the doctor when you attend for your appointment.

If you would prefer to see the doctor alone please say so at the time.  This will not affect your treatment in any way.

MRC General Practice Framework

This practice is a member of the Medical Research Council's General Practice Research Framework (GPRF).  This is a national group of around 1000 practices interested in undertaking research that will lead to better patient care.  The Framework has been involved in studies on heart disease, asthma, hormone replacement therapy, health checks for older people, depression and ear infections in children.  If the practice takes part in a GPRF research project we might:

  • Send anonymised information about an important health topic from our practice computer to the researcher conducting the study, for example the total number of people we have in the practice that have a diagnosis of asthma during the last year.  You would not be able to be identified from this information in any way.
  • Contact some of our patients to ask them if they would be interested in being part of a study.  If you were contacted you would be free to refuse to take part without your medical care being affected.

If you do not wish to ever be contacted by the practice about research or for anonymised information from your or your children's notes to be included in our research, then please write to Dr Jacobs.  This will not affect the care you receive from our practice.
