Telephone Consultations

Telephone Consultations are carried out between 8.00am-11.00am and 2pm-5pm, with extended hours every Tuesday between 7.30am and 8.00am.

In the first instance, patients should call and request a telephone consultation with the GP.

If required, a further face to face appointment, may be made with the patient, by the GP.

The health centre telephone system has several incoming lines and as a result there may be a delay in answering calls, especially during busy periods.  There is now a queueing system and you will be made aware of your position in the queue.

If your call is an emergency and the telephone is ringing out, please hang up, dial 999 and ask for an ambulance.

Opening Times

The centre is open at the following times, but access is restricted to the Health Centre, due to COVID 19 Guidelines, unless requested by a GP.

All appointments are to be telephone consultations initially, after this GPs can then arrange face to face appointments with the patients themselves if required

 

Telephone Consultations

Telephone consultations can be requested for any problem that can be dealt with over the phone. The doctor will phone you back at a mutually suitable time.

Please note GP working hours will change in times of annual leave.

When We Are Closed

When you need a doctor for an urgent medical problem, out-with normal surgery hours, please telephone NHS 24 on 111.

Out-of-hours services are generally busy so please think carefully before asking to see a doctor and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.

In a genuine emergency you should call 999. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency. 

When you phone NHS 24, you will be asked details clarifying who is phoning, who has the problem and what the problem is.

Depending on the urgency:

You may be contacted by a nurse, this can take some time.

You may get advice from a nurse immediately.

You may be advised to attend a Minor Injury Unit.

A Dr may be informed to visit or you might be advised to attend A&E or dial 999 for an ambulance.

If you need medical attention when the Health Centre is closed, please dial 111 to speak to a nurse at NHS24 who will be able to help you.

Video Consultations With Your GP

Due to the current Coronavirus, there is an increase in GP's carrying out Video Consultations with their patients.

If you are interested in this service, please call the practice an discuss with the receptionist or GP.

Voluntary Transport Service

Phone Edzell health centre to book

•  Edzell Community Health Transport (ECHT) provides transport to and from medical appointments for those registered at Edzell Health Centre and residents of Edzell, unable to use other forms of transport 
• The driver takes patients to appointments at Edzell Health Centre, Stracathro Hospital, Ninewell, ARI or other hospitals and clinics in the Tayside or Grampian region where they normally wait for the patient and takes them back home.
• There is a real need for this service as there have been cutbacks on the ambulance service in the area. Also, it helps prevent cancellation of medical appointments and patients not turning up due to transport problems. 
• Our main source of income is from patient donations and an annual fundraising project. Funding is required to cover transport payments, insurance, telephone calls, stationery and printing costs.
• To use the service contact the Edzell Health Centre and leave your name, telephone number and date, time and location of the appointment. The receptionist will pass the information to the ECHT co-ordinator who will organise a driver to contact the patient to confirm the details and arrange a pick up time.
