8. Advance Care Planning.
Advance care planning can help you plan for the future. It gives you the opportunity to think about, talk about and write down what your wishes are and what’s important to you about your care. Advance care planning is not something you have to do – you would only do it if you choose to.

10. Young Carers
Siblings and Young Carers is a new online project aimed at supporting the wellbeing of young people with a caring role. The project includes both age appropriate group sessions and one to one peer sessions where young people can share their experiences and interests with a fellow sibling or young carer. This month the groups have been doing dance workshops, football sessions, yoga, drama classes and guitar lessons. The Siblings and Young Carers project is suitable for young people aged 5-18 who have a sibling or parent with a disability.

11. Sense Buddying service
The Sense Buddying service, which matches a disabled person with a volunteer, is now also available online, with buddies socialising over phone, videocall or letter. Our volunteer buddies are carefully matched with people based on their communication style, hobbies and interests, with a focus on having fun together and becoming friends. We’ve been getting up to all sorts over the past few months – pottery workshops, music sessions, jewellery making, quizzes, book clubs, soap making, yoga classes and some good old chats. Virtual Buddying is suitable for individuals of all ages with communication or sensory needs. The project is free of charge and we send out the resources needed for sessions.

12. ANGUS alive (covid-19 update)
BE ACTIVE…live well
As you may be aware, ANGUSalive re-opened their sports facilities on a phased approach from Monday 14 September initially offering gym and group fitness classes. Other activities will be introduced over the weeks ahead, including our BE ACTIVE…live well programme but, as yet, no indicative dates have been set. There are ongoing discussions at our weekly recovery group meetings around the challenges we face moving forward during these difficult times.
Prior to lockdown, we offered a range of classes for people living with long term conditions including diabetes, coronary heart disease, COPD, arthritis and mental health issues which were all led by qualified specialist exercise instructors. We very much hope to be able to re-launch these popular classes and start taking new referrals over the coming weeks.
For more details on our recovery plan including opening and closing times and activities available please follow this link:

Move More ANGUS alive;
We are delighted that we will soon be able to offer support again to people living with cancer to be physically active through Move More ANGUSalive. The programme will start to be redeveloped from October 1st when the Development Officer, Linda Brown, returns from furlough.
Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic we had an extensive programme across Angus which included circuit based exercise, Gentle Movement, and walking groups. The challenge now is to re-establish physical activity opportunities for people living with cancer in this much changed environment. We hope to offer support through a range of means, including utilising virtual technologies, telephone support, as well as face to face. We will provide an update as soon as we can. If you would like to refer a patient to Move More or would like more information, please email movemore@angusalive.scot.
Move GB
Prior to the start of the COVID-19 pandemic there had been discussions about providing virtual opportunities for participation for residents across Angus. ANGUSalive have now agreed a partnership with MoveGB, an online streaming platform. We plan to live stream some classes from our Long Term Conditions and Move More programmes including Circuit, Seated Exercise, Seated Yoga and Gentle Movement and will also be streaming some group fitness classes. MoveGB will initially be piloted at Montrose Sports Centre where we hope to launch this initiative no later than December 1st. The plan will then be to purchase more equipment and roll out to other sites. We see this blended approach as an opportunity to introduce classes for our participants who may not be able to access the centres but want to exercise at home under the guidance of our qualified instructors.
